TABLE OF CONTENTS
Epigraph

Adequate hydration is essential for health. Water is crucial for the proper function of several physiological processes, including circulatory function, metabolism, temperature regulation, and waste removal. Dehydration, a state in which total body water is inadequate for proper cell, organ, and system functioning, is associated with poor health. Although excessive dehydration is associated with serious health problems, such as impaired renal, immune, and gastrointestinal functioning, confusion, and delirium, even mild dehydration can worsen health and well-being. Mild dehydration is associated with headache, irritability, poorer physical performance, and reduced cognitive functioning among both children and adults.- Dr. Erica L. Kinney of the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences, Harvard T.H. Chan Medical School of Public Health: Boston, Massachusetts. Prevalence of inadequate hydration among US children and disparities by gender and race/ethnicity: National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, 2009–2012. Am J Public Health. 2015 August; 105 (8): e113–e118.

Preface

The majority of children and adults are significantly dehydrated. Proper intracellular hydration profoundly impacts sleep quality, mood, blood pressure, endurance, exercise recovery, weight management, mental clarity, longevity, eyes, hearing, kidneys, heart, and skin. Embracing proper intracellular hydration can truly transform lives!

This book will explain the importance of hydration and why the ideal beverage for intracellular hydration should meet these six criteria:

1. Highly purified water should be achieved through advanced reverse osmosis or other effective purification methods, resulting in pharmaceutical-grade purity of 99.999% or higher, effectively eliminating contaminants. Contamination of drinking water is a common concern, affecting both tap water and water bottled in plastic or glass containers.

2. Osmolality should be 200-260 mmol/kg to provide  optimal intracellular hydration and optimal taste.

3. Electrolytes should include magnesium (as magnesium bisglycinate), potassium (as potassium chloride), chloride, and calcium (as calcium citrate) in low concentrations to provide optimal intracellular hydration and support cellular metabolism.

4. Amino acids should include glycine, taurine, and L-serine in low concentrations to provide optimal cellular metabolism.

5. Beverages should be free of sugar, sodium, artificial colors, and caffeine to prevent dehydration and other harmful effects.

6. Beverages should be packaged in cans with BPANI (BPA-Non-Intent) liners, such as non-epoxy-based acrylic liners, or in glass bottles. Cans are preferable due to their safer shipping properties.
